Tuition fees covered. Laptop provided. A mentor by your side throughout your studies. And a job offer waiting the moment you graduate. The CIMB ASEAN Scholarship 2026 is exactly that kind of package — and applications are open from 6th to 22nd April 2026. If this has been on your radar, now's the time to move.
What Even Is the CIMB ASEAN Scholarship?
The CIMB ASEAN Scholarship is a highly selective, full scholarship for exceptional students from ASEAN countries where CIMB has a presence. CIMB Group is one of Southeast Asia's leading financial institutions, and this programme is their way of investing in the region's next generation of talent.
The best part? CIMB welcomes applicants from a wide variety of academic disciplines — including Computer Science, Data Science, and Psychology, not just Finance or Economics. So if you thought this wasn't for you because of your course, think again.
What's Actually Covered?
Full Financial Coverage The scholarship covers tuition fees, laptop, books, visa, flights, and allowances for accommodation and living expenses. The big financial headaches of studying abroad? Handled.
A Mentor in Your Corner Scholars get direct access to a team of mentors who coach and support them throughout the programme. Real guidance from people already in the industry.
Internship Real Work Experience Scholars get to be involved in high-priority projects within the banking industry through programmes like The Complete Banker™. That's hands-on exposure most graduates spend years trying to get.
Guaranteed Employment Scholars are bonded with CIMB Group, which offers employment opportunities right after graduation. No frantic job hunting after finishing your degree.
Who Can Apply?
CIMB welcomes applicants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Here's a quick look at the academic requirements by country:
Malaysia — Minimum 8As in SPM/IGCSE, 3As for STPM, 37 points for IB, 3As for GCE A-Level, or CGPA 3.50/4.00 for pre-university, diploma, foundation, or matriculation.
Singapore — For those already in university, a minimum CGPA of 3.50/4.00 is required.
Thailand — Minimum CGPA of 3.5/4.0 with a strong academic track record and active curricular involvement.
Across all countries: applicants must not be recipients of any other scholarship with contractual obligations, and must be 25 years old and below.
What Does CIMB Look For?
Beyond grades, CIMB is looking for change-makers who embrace change, communicate with empathy and impact, demonstrate leadership and teamwork, and can think creatively to solve real problems. They want someone ready to grow — not just someone with a polished transcript.
How the Selection Works
The process runs across five stages: eligibility screening, online assessments, a panel interview, an Assessment Centre, and a final interview with CIMB Group's senior management team.
A few things to note before you apply:
- The application is fully digital with no document attachments required at this stage — but ensure everything you fill in is accurate, as original documents will be needed if you're shortlisted.
- IELTS or TOEFL scores are not needed to apply — CIMB will let you know if they're required later.
- You cannot save your application as a draft, so have everything ready before you start.
About the Bond
Scholars are bonded with CIMB Group — one year per year of local study, and two years per year of overseas study, capped at a maximum of five years. A fair trade for a fully funded degree and a guaranteed career head start.
