What Is the Axiata Foundation All-Star Bestari Scholarship?

The Axiata Foundation All-Star Bestari Scholarship empowers high-potential students to pursue and complete their studies, enabling them to fulfil their greatest potential. It sits under Axiata Foundation's Axiata Equity-In-Education Fund (AEiEF), set up to provide education support and financial assistance to top-performing students who need it most.

What Does It Cover?

The scholarship covers tuition fees, living allowances, and other related expenses for the full duration of pre-university studies at a local public institution. But it doesn't stop at the financial side.

Structured development interventions are also provided to accelerate personal, academic, and professional development — think leadership camps, mentorship sessions, and networking opportunities. Past scholars have described it as more than just a scholarship. One 2024 scholar shared that it helped her gain confidence, improve communication, and build meaningful relationships, calling it a journey of self-discovery rather than just financial relief.

All foundation and matriculation courses offered by local public institutions are covered, for a maximum of one year.

Who Can Apply?

The programme is open to Malaysian citizens aged 19 and below who have obtained a minimum of 6As in SPM — inclusive of A , A, or A- grades. Applicants should also come from households with a combined monthly income of RM4,850 and below.

One thing to note: this scholarship is not applicable to employees or family members of Axiata Group Berhad or any of its subsidiaries and key associates, including CelcomDigi, XL Axiata, Boost Holdings, and others.

How Does the Selection Process Work?

The process runs across four stages: an online application, online assessments covering verbal, numerical, and moral reasoning, a final individual interview, and an offer confirmation upon meeting the academic and admissions requirements.

Shortlisting is done on a rolling basis, so it's best to apply early rather than waiting closer to the deadline. Also, once you submit, double-check everything — editing your application after submission is not advisable, so make sure all information is accurate and complete before hitting that submit button.

Do I Have to Work for Axiata After This?

This is one of the more pleasant surprises about this scholarship. You will not be required to serve a scholarship bond at any of Axiata's companies upon completion of your scholarship. Your path after pre-university is entirely your own — though you will be invited to join the alumni community.
