Online Learning and Flexible Academic Structure
This distance-learning degree is designed for individuals who need to balance their education with work or personal commitments. Students learn about human thoughts, decision-making processes, and behavior patterns entirely through an online setup. The first year introduces foundational subjects such as cognitive psychology, social psychology, abnormal psychology, and organizational behavior. Progressing into the second year, the focus turns to human development stages—spanning childhood, adolescence, and old age—alongside practical subjects like psychological testing, statistical analysis, and counseling basics. There are no elective streams; instead, students focus entirely on a robust core curriculum to complete a total of 31 subjects across 120 credit hours.
Continuous Coursework and Proctored Assessments
Rather than relying solely on major end-of-year physical exams, student performance is continually tracked through a 60% coursework and 40% final exam split. Assignments and research projects are handled online. Final examinations are also completely remote, conducted during late evenings on weekdays or flexible slots during the weekend. Students use video conferencing tools like Zoom for live exam proctoring and digital submission platforms like Turnitin to hand in their written papers securely.
Practical Industry Exposure and Career Pathways
A key component of this program at Brickfields Asia College (BAC) is the mandatory 12-week industrial training placement in the final year. This internship gives students the flexibility to practice their skills in various real-world spaces like mental health clinics, human resource departments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), marketing firms, or customer service environments. Working students have the option to complete this training within their current job setting. While graduating grants immediate career entries into corporate roles like human resources, content creation, copywriting, or sales, those wishing to practice as a licensed counselor or registered psychologist in Malaysia can smoothly transition into postgraduate studies like a Master’s degree.
