The Energy Engineering degree focuses on the evolving field of energy transition, emphasizing energy efficiency and the move away from fossil fuels for power generation. This program opens doors to emerging opportunities in geo-energy, including geothermal and hydrogen systems, systems engineering, environmental compliance, sustainable energy, and both conventional and innovative renewable technologies—such as a new unit on hydrogen production.
Designed to position Curtin as a global leader in Energy and Resource Transition, the program aligns with global sustainability efforts such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Australia’s 2050 Net-Zero Carbon Emissions target, Malaysia’s NDC under the UNDP Climate Promise, and Sarawak’s Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030. Graduates will be equipped to contribute to the advancement of global energy transition technologies.
After completing the Engineering Foundation Year (EFY), students will explore a wide range of topics in energy engineering, with opportunities to specialise in areas like Energy Conversion Technologies, Low Carbon Transition, Subsurface Energy Engineering, and Power Systems Engineering.
In the final year, students will complete a major individual research project alongside a team-based design project, preparing them for impactful careers in the energy sector.
