The two-year Diploma in Aquaculture is designed to provide in-depth knowledge and practical skills in aquaculture farming and management. It combines scientific principles with hands-on training in key areas such as breeding, production, processing, and aquaculture system design, all with a strong focus on food security. Most of the learning takes place at Curtin Malaysia, offering real-world, farm-based experiences.
In the first year, students build a solid academic foundation through courses in communication, critical thinking, numeracy, IT, and basic aquaculture sciences—including fish biology and water quality assessment. Year two advances into more specialised topics like fish breeding, nutrition, feed formulation, and pond construction. The programme concludes with industrial training, giving students valuable exposure to industry practices and preparing them for careers as aquaculture technicians, entrepreneurs, researchers, or feed production specialists.
