Building Core Business Knowledge
The course introduces students to the fundamental aspects of running and managing an enterprise. Students explore subjects such as Principles of Marketing, Business Statistics, and Principles of Economics to understand how modern markets operate. In accounting and finance modules, students learn how to read financial sheets, calculate business budgets, and analyze basic investments. The curriculum also includes a module on business skills and information technology fundamentals, helping students handle office software and day-to-day administrative tasks.
Practical Digital Marketing Project
Beyond standard textbooks, students participate in a dedicated digital marketing module conducted by d.kraft Singapore. During this project, students study the mechanics of online advertisements across popular platforms like Google and Facebook. The lessons focus on finding the correct target audience, managing ad budgets, and tracking campaign results. Students apply these concepts directly by working on a real industry brief, which gives them a taste of true marketing work and awards them an additional practitioner certificate upon completion.
Learning and Classroom Experience
Classes take place at the main MDIS Stirling Road Campus. Students experience a mix of large lectures and smaller tutorials, maintaining an average student-to-lecturer ratio of 100:1 for lectures and 40:1 for tutorials. Instead of relying solely on final written examinations, grades are calculated from a mix of active class participation, individual assignments, group presentations, and exams. This structure helps students practice explaining their ideas clearly to others, mirroring typical workplace scenarios.
Future Pathways and Career Growth
Graduates are prepared to step into entry-level administrative and supervisory positions within various business sectors. The program focuses on creating a reliable foundation for those who want to transition smoothly into formal university degree courses later on. By teaching essential leadership methods and strategic planning tools like SWOT analysis, the program ensures students can confidently step into corporate environments or proceed with specialized business degrees.
