Course Overview

The goal of the diploma program is to equip students to handle the rigours and difficulties of working as nursery and pre-school teachers in both public and private settings. In addition to offering the required subjects—knowledge basis, curriculum, pedagogy, and management—it is designed to strengthen and advance students' pedagogical talents and teaching skills.

Graduates of the program will be able to identify teaching and learning strategies for young children and be professionally and reflectively involved in curriculum planning, teaching-learning processes and experiences, management, and professional development.

Entry Requirement

SPM / O-Level / SM2; or Malaysian Independent Chinese Secondary School UEC Certificate; or an equivalent qualification (3 credits). Special entry requirements from 2014 to 2018 include: SPM (or equivalent) with 2 credits and 3 years of work experience in Early Childhood Care and Education, or SPM (or equivalent) with 1 credit and 5 years of work experience in Early Childhood Care and Education. For international students, a pass in an English Language examination is required, such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of at least 500, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall band score of at least 5.0, or any other equivalent English Language examination.
