Learning Approach and Focus
Students specialize in a chosen musical instrument, vocals, or composition during this one-year program. The curriculum focuses heavily on practical training, mixing personalized instrumental or vocal lessons with masterclasses and group rehearsals. Students explore their personal musical styles while receiving direct feedback from experienced teachers to improve their technical execution and stagecraft.
Modules and Public Showcases
The academic structure consists of five core modules: Research Project, Professional Portfolio, Performance Project, Promoting your Career, and Creative Leadership. Instead of relying on traditional classroom exams, students spend their time creating portfolios and practicing for live events. The final part of the course requires students to put together and perform in a public showcase, where they present their solo or ensemble skills to a live audience.
Campus Facilities
Students complete their daily practices and assignments using dedicated spaces at the campus. The college provides access to specialized classrooms, music studios, rehearsal rooms, and a recital studio. These facilities are designed to help students record their work, practice in groups, and get used to performing in front of audiences. More information about student resources can be found on the Singapore Raffles Music College Official Website.
Career Pathways
Graduates receive a Bachelor of Music (Honours) Music Performance awarded directly by the University of West London. This qualification helps students find work as professional instrumentalists, session musicians, classical or contemporary vocalists, and music directors. Other graduates choose to work in music production, composition, sound design, or private music teaching. The degree also meets the academic standards needed to apply for post-graduate courses in music performance, composition, or arts management.
