The demanding Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Theatre Production curriculum covers the dynamic practice of modern theatre-making. Students can anticipate honing and refining their skills in production management, design development, directing, and performing. Critical historical, contextual, and theoretical studies promote this activity.
Students also think about how theatre is produced in a world that is becoming more and more computerised. Additionally, students will graduate with fundamental skills in self-sustainability, leadership, creativity, and arts entrepreneurship.
The instructors for this new program are academics and theatre professionals with a range of backgrounds, perspectives, and teaching styles. Students study through tutorials, individual and group projects, fieldwork, field visits, and supervised research in addition to lectures and practical/studio sessions.
Five productions over three years give students plenty of chances to network, work together, try new things, and discover their voice. Before graduating, students also finish a 12-week industry placement.
Beyond theatre, this program gives students the tools they need to pursue a wide range of early-career opportunities in the creative industries, such as (but not limited to): film, television, radio, digital and social media, broadcasting and journalism, music and dance, events and concerts, marketing and advertising, and the entertainment-leisure sectors, which include theme parks, malls, zoos, museums, galleries, and carnivals. On successful completion of the programme, graduates will also be awarded a degree from Lancaster University in addition to the Sunway University degree.
