Course Overview

The BSc (Hons) Financial Analysis programme has been designed to meet the increasing demand for quality skills and expertise in the financial services industry.

Focusing on the quantitative aspects of finance, you will learn about equities, fixed-incomes and derivatives markets. You will also explore the applications of mathematical and statistical knowledge to the fields of investment and risk management to meet the dynamic needs of the financial services industry in general.

The solid foundation that we provide allows you to either venture directly into a career in finance and investment or to pursue further studies in quantitative finance. Through this programme, you are prepared for the quantitative aspects of all three levels of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) professional examinations. A CFA charter is the most recognised professional qualification in the finance world and this will set you up for a successful career in finance.

On successful completion of the programme, graduates will also be awarded a degree from Lancaster University. They will be awarded two certificates, making them graduates of both Sunway University and Lancaster University.

Entry Requirement

Applicants to Sunway University must meet the following entry requirements: STPM with an average C+ or CGPA 2.33 (minimum 2 principals); A-Level with a minimum of 14 points, including at least Grade D in 2 subjects (points calculation: A = 10, B = 8, C = 6, D = 4, E = 2); Australian Matriculation with an ATAR of 60; Canadian Matriculation with 60%; Monash University Foundation Year with 60%; Sunway Foundation in Arts or Science and Technology with a CGPA of 2.5; or Sunway Diploma with a CAVG of 55% or CGPA of 2.50, with potential for advanced standing if credit transfer requirements are met. UEC candidates must achieve a maximum of 25 points from 5 subjects (all Grade Bs, including Mathematics), while International Baccalaureate candidates need a minimum of 27 points (excluding bonus points). An APEL.A Certificate (APEL T-6) is also accepted, and other qualifications are considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must have a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent. English language requirements include an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent, MUET Band 4, SPM English B+, UEC English B4, O-Level English (1119) Credit, a pass in Sunway Intensive English Programme (IEP) Level 4 with a minimum of 65%, or satisfactory proficiency in pre-university programmes taught in English. Additionally, certain international students pursuing degree programmes in partnership with Lancaster University must pass a six-month online International Preparatory Programme (IPP), achieving at least a Grade C in all subjects, to progress to their chosen degree programme.
