Two Semester Pre-Master's Programme

The Two Semester Pre-Master’s Programme is a structured academic pathway designed for international students who possess an advanced diploma or associate degree, but do not hold a full bachelor's degree, providing them with access to master’s level study at the University of Canterbury.

Upon successful completion of the programme and meeting the minimum GPA requirement, students are guaranteed entry into selected master’s programmes in areas such as Business, Engineering, Science, Health, Education, and Arts, depending on their prior qualifications.

The programme is divided into two semesters:

• The first semester, delivered by UC International College (UCIC), focuses on building general postgraduate readiness through courses in critical thinking, communication, data analysis, and cultural and bicultural awareness.
• The second semester, conducted by UC, involves advanced undergraduate coursework tailored to the student’s intended field of postgraduate study. Specific courses for this semester are determined by the relevant UC faculty.
