Master of Science in Mathematics

Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) offers a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mathematics through its School of Mathematical Sciences. This program is designed to provide advanced knowledge and research skills in various areas of mathematics, preparing graduates for careers in academia, industry, or further research.

Program Structure:

The M.Sc. in Mathematics at USM is conducted in a mixed-mode format, combining coursework and research components. Students are required to complete five core courses and undertake a research project leading to a dissertation. The core courses include:

• Computational Linear Algebra and Function
• Approximation
• Numerical Methods for Differential Equations
• Mathematical Modelling
• Computational Mathematics
• Curve and Surface Methods for Computer-Aided Geometric Design (CAGD)

The research component involves selecting a topic under the guidance of a supervisor, culminating in a dissertation evaluated by internal and external examiners
